Fed Cup Thailand team makes the history

Thailand No. 1 Tamarine Tanasugarn won the first of the reverse singles rubbers to give the Thais an unbeatable 3-0 lead and send them to World Group status for the first time. Tammy fought back from a set down to defeat Australia's Nicole Pratt 1-6, 6-4, 6-1 to wrap up the tie in front of 2,500 Thai fans at the SAT Stadium at Muang Thong Thani earlier today. " I played her many times and never seen her play aggressive before. In the first set , she dominated aggressive baseline game so well. I played more agressive in the second and third set and happy I won. " said Tammy
Samantha Stosur rallied from a set down to defeat Napaporn Tongsalee 4-6, 6-0, 6-0 in the dead singles rubber. Napaporn Tongsalee and Montinee Tangphong lost the final rubber 5 to McShea and Wheeler 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.

Fifteen minutes later after Thailand Suchanan Viratprasert' victory against Nicole Pratt, world No. 51 Tamarine Tanasugarn gave Thailand 2-0 lead , defeating Australia rising star Samantha Stosur in three-set battle 5-7,6-2,8-6 in Fed Cup World Group Play-Offs rubber 2 single match at the SAT Stadium at Muang Thong Thani earlier today. Tammy rallied from one set down, saving 3 break points in the 8th game when she was down 5-7,6-2,3-4 and again saved 2 match points at 4-5 down to win the match. " There is nothing in my head about the points even I was down 3 break points and 2 match points, I just concentrated in every points. Samantha hit the hard and I try not to give her favorite balls." said Tammy who will play Nicole Pratt on tomorrow reverse single match. " I didn't put enough pressure on her (Tammy) when I had chances (3 break points and 2 match points). " said Stosur.

" I did not expect to win against high ranking player like Nicole Pratt. I just played my game. " said Suchanan who will takes on Samantha Stosur on tomorrow reverse single match. " I'm very disappointed with today lost, all credit to her (Suchanan), she played very well, serve well and she created angle shot so well. I just could not play my game, she deserved to win " said Pratt who will meet Tammy in reverse single match tomorrow.

World No. 174 Suchanan Viratprasert of Thailand will start her first match of the Fed Cup when she takes on Australia veteran Nicole Pratt in the opening rubber of their World Group Play-Offs first round at the SAT Stadium at Muang Thong Thani on Saturday 10 July. World No. 51 Tamarine Tanasugarn will follow Suchanan onto court with a match against Australia rising star Samantha Stosur , while two other members of the winning team, Napaporn Tongsalee and Montinee Tangphong, have been nominated to play doubles. The draw ceremony and welcome party has done at Rama Garden Hotel, Bangkok yesterday.
