Thailand aims to beat Slovak

Hosts Thailand hope for an upset victory over Slovak Republic in the Fed Cup World Group 2 play-offs at Bangkok University's Rungsit Campus July 09 - 10.
The first nation to win three matches will remain in the World Group 2 with the losing team being relegated to the regional qualifying zone. " I'm confident our team would win. we are fortunate that top Slovakian players Hantuchova and Sucha won't be playing. But we won't underestimate Slovakia because they can play well in both singles and doubles. " said Tammy who just recovered from knee injury while playing in the Birmingham last month.
The Slovakia has submitted the team lists to the Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand (LTAT). There were Henrieta Nagyova (138), Lubomira Kurhajcova (167), Magdalena Rybarikova (582) and Dominika Cibulkova (836). Thailand, meanwhile, will be represented by world No. 69 Tamarine Tanasugarn, Suchanun Viratprasert (245), Napaporn Tongsalee (281) and Montinee Tangphong (294).

World junior No. 383 Kittipong Wachiramanowong and world junior No. 502 Peerakit Siributwong of Thailand both advanced to the third round of the ITF 2005 Maxx Hotel Junior (Group 5) Tennis Championships at Panya Sports Complex Tennis Courts, Bangkok, Thailand earlier today. Kittipong defeated qualifier Ganang Surya-Atmaja of Indonesia 6-2, 6-2 while Peerakit swept past Sono Hartona Suwandi of Indonesia in straight set 6-4, 7-5. Lopburi Nathasiri joined Kittipong and Peerakit into the third round with 6-2, 6-4 victory over Seo Jeong-Han of Korea.
In girl's single, top seed Porntip Mulsap was knocked out by So-Yeon Kim of Korea 6-4, 3-6, 6-7(3) in the first round....... More

World junior No. 483 Varanya Vijuksanaboon and world junior No. 383 Kittipong Wachiramanowong of Thailand both advanced to the quarterfinals round of the ITF 2005 Maxx Hotel Junior (Group 5) Tennis Championships at Panya Sports Complex Tennis Courts, Bangkok, Thailand earlier today. Seventh seed Varanya defeated Noelle-Conchita Zoleta of Philippines in stright set 6-0, 6-3 and will play quarterfinals against So-Yeon Kim of Korea.
In boy's single third round, third seed Kittipong Wachiramanowong reached quarterfinals with 6-2, 7-5 victory over Sang- Gyun Kim of Korea and will meet qualifier Tadayuki Longhi of Japan.......More

Suchanun begins the first match for Thailand

World No. 243 Suchanun Viratprasert of Thailand will start her first match of the Fed Cup when she takes on Slovak veteran Henrieta Nagyova in the opening rubber of their World Group 2 Play-Offs at Bangkok University's Rungsit Campus on Saturday 9 July.
World No. 82 Tamarine Tanasugarn will follow Suchanun onto court with a match against Slovakia No. 2 Lubomira Kurhajcova , while two other members of the winning team, Napaporn Tongsalee and Montinee Tangphong, have been nominated to play doubles. The draw ceremony and welcome party has done at Rama Gardens Hotel, Bangkok earlier today.

World junior No. 383 Kittipong Wachiramanowong and world junior No. 483 Varanya Vijuksanaboon of Thailand continued their fine run, advancing to the semifinals round of the ITF 2005 Maxx Hotel Junior (Group 5) Tennis Championships at Panya Sports Complex Tennis Courts, Bangkok, Thailand earlier today. The 16-year-old talented boy from Song-khla had a convincing 6-4, 6-4 victory over qualifier Tadayuki Longhi of Japan. Kittipong sets up semifinals clash against top seed Ronald Chow of Hong Kong who recorded 6-0, 6-2 win over Uzbekistan's Konstanrin Blank.
In girl's single, Varanya Vijuksanaboon reached the semifinals with 6-3,6-0 victory over So-Yeon Kim of Korea and will play semifinals against Yoon-Young Jeong of Korea....... More

Suchanan beats Cibulkova to give Thailand 1-0 lead

World No. 243 Suchanun Viratprasert of Thailand got off to a fine start in the Fed Cup World Group 2 Play-Offs with a victory rubber 1 single match at Bangkok University's Rungsit Campus earlier today.
World junior No. 4 Dominika Cibulkova of Slovak Republic replaced Slovak No. 1 Henrieta Nagyova who withdrew from the first rubber due to her right knee injury. The Thai 23-year-old from Bangkok, who is ranked 243, defeated Dominika Cibulkova
in straight set 6-4, 6-4. " I played well from the beginning. I took a lead 3 - 0 then Viratprasert started to hit the ball harder and she made me playing defensive. She played more consistent than me. " said Cibulkova....... More

Kurhajcova levels Proceeding 1 - 1

Following Suchanun's victory over young Slovak rising star Dominika Cibulkova in the day, later on world No. 152 Lubomira Kurhajcova took on the Thai No. 1 Tamarine Tanasugarn who is ranked 82 in the world. " Tammy played so well, It was a tough match. I also love playing under hot weather because I used to play in Pattaya before. I'm happy to win the match. " said Kurhajcova who eventually prevailed 2-6, 6-4, 6-0 in three set battle to level the Thailand vs Slovakia Republic tie 1 - 1.
" I'm not getting well recovery (leg injury) from Wimbledon and I could not move well in the third set because feel pain at my ankle. " said Tammy who will tomorrow take on Slovak No. 1

Thailand No. 1 and world No. 82 Tamarine Tanasugarn won the first of the reverse singles rubbers to give Thailand 2 -1 lead, defeating Slovak rising star Magdalena Rybarikova in straight set 6-1, 6-2 in their Fed Cup World Group 2 Play-Offs at Bangkok University's Rungsit Campus earlier today. Thailand No. 2 Suchanun Viratprasert will play Slovak's No. 2 Lubomira Kurhajcova in the second of the reverse singles rubbers.

Hosts Thailand retained in the next year World Group 2 status after defeating Slovak Republic 4 : 1 in their Fed Cup World Group 2 Play-Offs at Bangkok University's Rungsit Campus earkier today.
Thailand lead Slovak 2 - 1 after Tammy's victory over Magdalena Rybarikova in the first of the reverse singles rubbers in the day. The Thai No. 2 Suchanun Viratprasert sealed the victory 3 : 1 lead for Thailand with 6 - 4, 6 - 2 win over Slovak No. 2 Lubomira Kurhajcova in the second of the reverse singles rubbers. " I don't feel any presure even our team leads 2 - 1. She (Kurhajcova) played very long match against Tammy yesterday so I had a bit an advantage because she's more tired than me. I'm happy to win for our country. " said Suchanun who has a solid record in the Cup over the past two years, losing only one out of nine matches.
Napaporn Tongsalee and Montinee Tangphong defeated Dominika Cibulkova and Magdalena Rybarikova in double rubbers in three set battle 3-6, 6-1, 7-5.
