World single No. 302 and unseed Napaporn Tongsalee of Thailand continued her winning way into the semifinals at the $US50,000 Our Ladiy of Bellefonte Hospital Tennis Classic, a Women's Challenger Tournament in Ashland, KY, USA on Friday.
The Thai 25-year-old Napaporn rallied from a set down to defeat Amarican young junior rising star Alexa Glatch in three set battle 5-7, 6-3, 6-2. Napaporn plays top seed Amy Frazier of USA who is now ranked 79th in the world ( Frazier has reached her career high at 13th in February 27,1995 ) for a spot to the final....... More

Paradorn crashes out of Thailand Open

Thailand No. 1 Paradorn Srichaphan was ended his fine run in the semifinals of the $US550,000 Thailand Open at Impact Arena Muang Thong Thani, Prathum Thani, Thailand earlier today.
The Thai 26-year-old, a quarterfinalist in 2003 and 2004 semifinalist, went down 7-6(3), 5-7, 2-6 to the 18-year-old Andy Murray of Great Britain in a 2 hours, 36 minutes semifinals clash. Andy Murray plays the final against top seed Roger Federer who defeated sixth seed Jarkko Nieminen of Finland 6-3, 6-4.
" I was broken in the 12th game of the second set because I lost my concentration when I saw Murray called the trainer. In the third set, he moved me a lot and I was tired because I ran a lot in the first and second. He won a lot of points with his good passing shots when I approched to the net. " said Paradorn who ran too much and felt a little stiffness in his left leg.
" Playing Federer in the final would have been an historic match for Thailand. I'm disappointed and sorry for the fans that it's not going to happen. " added Paradorn who will leave for ATP Japan Open on Monday morning

The biggest surprise of the day unseed Napaporn Tongsalee of Thailand defeating top seed Amy Frazier of USA 6-3, 6-4 in straight sets to reach her first career final of the the $US50,000 Our Ladiy of Bellefonte Hospital Tennis Classic, a Women's Challenger Tournament in Ashland, KY, USA on Saturday.
The Thai 25-year-old Napaporn who defeated world top 100 for the first time, continued her winning way into the final with, a 6-3, 6-4 first round victory over Canada's Maureen Drake, defeating 7th seed Lilia Osterloh 6-1, 6-1 in the second round, a 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 quarterfinals win over USA's Alexa Glatch and knocked out top seed USA's Amy Frazier in semifinals. The Thai sets up final clash against second seed Kristina Brandi of Puerto Rico who recorded 6-1, 6-4 victory over Tara Snyder of USA....... More

World No. 1 and top seed Roger Federer of Switzerland won the Bangkok title for the second straight year, defeating wildcard Andy Murray of Great Britain in straight sets 6-3, 7-5 in the $US550,000 Thailand Open 2005, at Impact Arena Muangthong Thani, Prathum Thani, Thailand earlier today.
The Swiss successfully defended a title for the seventh time this season (Dubai, Indian Wells, Hamburg, Halle, Wimbledon, US Open and Bangkok). Federer has increased his record winning streak in ATP finals to 24 when he defeated first-time ATP finalist Andy Murray in the final of the Thailand Open today........ More

Napaporn captures first career $US50,000 Challenger title

Thailand's Napaporn Tongsalee successfully captured her first career $US50,000 Challenger title at the $US50,000 Our Ladiy of Bellefonte Hospital Tennis Classic, a Women's Challenger Tournament at Ashland Tennis Center in Ashland, KY, USA on Sunday.
The Thai 25-year-old Napaporn became only the second Thai woman after Tamarine Tanasugarn to win the $50,000 Challenger title. The Thai, a surprise finalist who came into the tournament ranked 302, defeated second seed Kristina Brandi of Puerto Rico (ranked 103 and former world No. 27) in three sets battle 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 in the lady final.
On her winning way to the final, the Thai doubles specialist who has won $US10,000 title in Balikpakan, Indonesia in September 2004, defeated three former big name players. She beated Canada's Maureen Drake (ranked 333 and former world No. 47) 6-3, 6-4 in the first round, then she swept past 7th seed Lilia Osterloh (ranked 175 and former world No. 41) 6-1, 6-1 in the second round, a 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 quarterfinals win over USA's Alexa Glatch (ranked 238) and knocked out top seed USA's Amy Frazier (ranked 77 and former world No. 13) in semifinals.
With a good showing in $US50,000 Ashland Tournament, Napaporn who has reached her career -high at 279th in November 2003, will jump up from 302th to 229th in the world, 73 places ahead of her last week's ranking of 302 in the latest list released by the WTA on Monday.
" I'm surprising a little bit but I believe in myself. I try to do my best. Each matches this week made me more confident. I beat some good players. I feel very fortunate to have won here. It's hot here but the heat did not bother me. I get used to it because I'm from Thailand. " said Napaporn who awarded $US7,315 and got 48 WTA points. She has so many chance to break into the top 200 as she has three Challenger tournamnets left in the USA. Her next three tournaments are $US50,000 Troy, $US50,000 San Francisco and $US50,000 Houston........ More

Thailand No. 2 Danai Udomchoke made an early first round exit of the $US690,000 AIG Japan Open Tennis Championships at Ariake Colosseum, Ariake Tennis Forest Park, Tokyo, Japan earlier today.
The Thai 24-year-old from Bangkok, who is ranked 144th in the world, was defeated by Roko Karanusic of Croatia in straight set 6-7(5), 4-6 in men's single first round.

Thailand No. 3 and unseed Napaporn Tongsalee crashed out of the $US50,000 USTA Women's Tennis Classic of Troy, losing the first round at Lunsford Tennis Center in Troy, AL, USA on Wednesday.
The Thai 25-year-old, who is now ranked 229th in the world, went down in three set battle 1-6, 6-1, 0-6 to fourth seed Melagros Sequera of Venezuela in single's first round. " I didn't play that bad. It's so windy today. I was playing my right leg injury and was so tired because I played many matches in three weeks. The doctor said I should rest my leg for two days. Thailand No. 1 Paradorn Srichaphan wasted eight match points before losing 6-2, 6-7(6), 5-7 to seventh seed Jarkko Nieminen of Finland in the third round clash at Ariake Colosseum, Ariake Tennis Forest Park, Tokyo, Japan earlier today.
The Thai 26-year-old, a semifinalist in ATP Bangkok last weekend, had four match points when he was leading 6-2, 6-5 but Nieminen fought back to save them all. The 12th seed from Finland put up a valiant fight, winning in the 12th game to take the contest into the tie-break. Paradorn again had four match points when he was leading 6 - 2 in the tie-break. Nieminen saved another four match points to win the tie-break in the second set and took the final set 7-5........ More
