Nungnadda qualifies for Chennai main draw

Thailand's 16-year-old Nungnadda Wannasuk (ITF-886) confirmed berths in the single 32-players main draw of the US$10,000 ITF Women's Chennai, winning her final qualifying matches at
Madras Gymkhana Club in Chennai, India earlier today.
Nungnadda, top seed in the qualifying draw, eased past Esha Sanghvi of India 6-0, 6-0. Unfortunate eighth-seeded Varanya Vijuksanaboon went down 3-6, 6-7(3) to India's No. 10 seed Parija Maloo.
Four Thai players ( fifth-seeded Nudnida Luangnam, seventh-seeded Thassha Vitayaviroj, Pichittra Thongdach and qualifier Nungnadda Wannasuk ) will be in focus in the main draw which will be kick-off on Monday.......... More

Thailand's 16-year-old Kittipong Wachiramanowong (ITF-234) made an early exit when he was defeated by Hiroki Moriya of Japan (ITF-215) in straight sets 2-6, 6-7(5) in the boy's singles first round at Higashiyama Park Tennis Center in Japan Open Junior Championships (Grade 1) , in Nagoya, Japan earlier today.

Fifth-seeded Nudnida Luangnam of Thailand (ITF-503) outplayed local wildcard Madhura Ranganathan of India, 6-1, 6-2 yesterday, to advance to the second round of the US$10,000 ITF Women's Chennai at
Madras Gymkhana Club in Chennai, India.
Two other Thai girls who joined Nudnida into the second round are unseeded Pichittra Thongdach (ITF-686) and qualifier Nungnadda Wannasuk (ITF-886). Pichittra beat India's Liza Pereira 6-1, 6-3 while Nungnadda race past India's wildcard Geeta Manohar in straight sets 6-4, 6-3.........More

Thailand's 14-year-old Noppawan Lertcheewakarn (ITF-70) and 16-year-old Varatchaya Wongteanchai (ITF-76) stormed into the third round of the Japan Open Junior Championships (Grade 1) after their second round victory at Higashiyama Park Tennis Center in Japan earlier today.
Noppawan, seeded No. 9, defeated Victoria Brook of Great Britain in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 while eighth-seeded Varatchaya outplayed qualifier Kotomi Takahata of Japan 6-4, 6-4.

Thailand's junior crashed out from the boy's and girl's singles third round of the Japan Open Junior Championships (Grade 1) in a rain-interrupted matches at Higashiyama Park Tennis Center in Nagoya, Japan earlier today.
It was a repeat match as No. 15 seed Perakiat Siriluethaiwattana (ITF-110) and top seed Sanam Singh of India (ITF-5) made their third round meeting. Perakiat, who had beaten Singh in Bangkok G1 two week ago, was revenged by the India top seed in straight sets 5-7, 1-6.
In the girl's side, Noppawan, seeded No. 9, went down 4-6, 2-6 to fifth-seeded Maya Gaverova of Russia while eighth-seeded Varatchaya was upset by No. 10 seed Veronica Ruo Li of USA in straight sets 5-7, 1-6.......... More

Paradorn kicks off rubber one for 2006 Davis Cup

The draws of the three-day tie of their Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Zone Group 1 2nd round were taken out at a draw ceremony evening today at the Rama Gardens Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand.
Thailand's number one and world no. 41
Paradorn Srichaphan will plays Japan tennis veteran and world no. 461 Gouichi Motomura in the opening match. In the second singles match, Danai Udomchoke (ATP-115) will take on Japan's 22-year-old Go Soeda (ATP-257). On the second day, Thai twin brothers Sonchat and Sanchai Ratiwatana, currently world double No. 155, will take on pair of Toshihide Matsui and Satoshi Iwabuchi, while in the reverse singles Paradorn will be taking on Soeda, followed by Danai versus Motomura on the final day.
The winning Nations will be promoted to World Group Play-Offs to be played in September 2006.

Thailand's 18-year-old Nudnida Luangnam (ITF-503), the only seeded players left in the last four, maintained her winning run, scoring straight set 6-3, 7-6(6) win over Indonesia's Lavinia Tananta to advance to the semi-finals of the US$10,000 ITF Women's Chennai at
Madras Gymkhana Club in Chennai, India earlier today.
The Thai Fed Cup team, seeded fifth in the tournament, sets up semifinal clash with Natasha Khan of Great Britain who recorded a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Shao-Yuan Kao of Chinese Taipei in other quarter-finals.

Number one player Paradorn Srichaphan has given Thailand a 1-0 lead in the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Asia/Oceania Zone Group I Second Round
with a 6-4, 7-6(4), 6-1 victory over Japan tennis veteran and world no. 461 Gouichi Motomura in the opening match at the Rama Gardens Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand earlier today.
The Thai 26-year-old who fired 16 aces, put up a good show, breaking the Japanese in the seventh game before winning the first set 6-4. The second set went with serve until Paradorn managed to win 7-6(4), claiming the tie-break seven points to four. The Thai continued his dominance, breaking Motomura twice before clinching 6-1 in the third set.
Later in the evening, Thailand's No. 2 Danai Udomchoke (ATP-115) will take on Japan's No. 1 Go Soeda (ATP-257) in the second singles match,

Thailand's 18-year-old Nudnida Luangnam (ITF-503) put herself into the women's singles final with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Natasha Khan of Great Britain at
Madras Gymkhana Club in the US$10,000 ITF Women's Chennai in Chennai, India on Friday.
The Thai 18-year-old talented girl from Sukhothai will battle for the trophy against unseeded Miki Miyamura of Japan who recorded 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 win over qualifier Jeong-A Cho of Korea in the other semi-finals.
In women's doubles final, top seed Nudnida and Thassha was defeated by Korea's pair Ji-Young Kim and Jeong-A Cho in straight sets 4-6, 4-6.........More

Thailand No. 2 Danai Udomchoke (ATP-115) rallied from two sets to one down before defeating Japan's No. 1 Go Soeda (ATP-257) in five greulling set 7-5, 3-6, 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-3 in the single second rubber of the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Asia/Oceania Zone Group I Second Round at the Rama Gardens Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand on Friday.
With the first two rubbers victory, Thailand leads Japan 2 - 0 in the first day. " It was miracle to win this match. I would like to dedicate this win to His Majesty the King. " said Danai who has enjoyed plenty of support from Thai fans. " I watched Soeda practicing and knew that he is a good and strong player. The quality of our games were not different but the key of today's game was our physical condition. I was lucky that I clinched the endurance test at the end. " added Danai who beat the Japan's No. 1 in 4 hours and 27 minutes.

Thailand has avenged last year's loss to Japan with a 3 - 0 lead in the second day to reach the World Group Play-Offs of the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas for the fourth times.
Thai twin brothers Sonchat and Sanchai Ratiwatana teamed up to win today's doubles rubber, defeating Japan's pair of Toshihide Matsui and Satoshi Iwabuchi in four sets battle 6-4, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2, lasting 2 hourd and 20 minutes in the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Asia/Oceania Zone Group I Second Round at the Rama Gardens Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand earlier today.
" We were happy to help our team to reach the World Group Play-Offs again. Today we played without much pressure because of our team took a 2-0 lead in the first day. Iwabuchi serves were not as good as he did in Osaka last year. " said Sanchai who will play the reverse single rubber tomorrow.
Thailand will play either Switzerland, Spain, Germany, Austria, Sweden, the Netherlands, Romania or Slovakia in September's play-offs....... More

Thailand's 18-year-old Nudnida Luangnam (ITF-503) had a successful campaign to claim the US$10,000 ITF Women title, defeating unseeded Miki Miyamura of Japan in straight sets 6-3, 6-0 at
Madras Gymkhana Club in the US$10,000 ITF Women's Chennai in Chennai, India on Saturday.
Seeded fifth in the tournament, the Thai talented girl from Sukhothai had an impressive record of having dropped only one set through five matches on the red clay tournament.
" She (Miyamura) looked tired after playing a long semifinals but I was fresh and confident. " said Nudnida who earned US$1,536 and six WTA points.
It was Nudnida's second US$10,000 ITF title in three finals. The first title came at US$10,000 ITF Women's circuit in Jakarta last year. Nudnida, who captured the 71st National Tennis Championships titles in last month, will be represented Thailand's Fed Cup team ( replaced Tamarine Tanasugarn ) which will play against Czech Republic in 2006 World Group 2 between 22 - 23 April at the Rama Gardens Hotel.........
