Thailand 14-year-old Noppawan Lertcheewakarn had a successful campaign as she defeated
eight- seed Sung-Hee Han of Korea in straight sets 6-0, 6-2 to capture her first ITF Junior title in the Neway International Junior Tennis Championships, a ITF Junior Group 3 at Zafar Iman Tennis Complex in Rajshahi, Bangladesh earlier today.
In all, the Thai, a Chiangmai native, had eliminated three seeded players along the way - third seed Jung-Yoon Shin in the second round; second seed
Nigora Sirojiddinova in semifinals; and eight seed Sung-Hee Han of Korea in the final.
With a good showing in this week, Noppawan earned 60 ITF junior ranking points and will jump up to top 200 on next ranking announcement after claiming today title........ More

It was not a good day for local wildcard entrant players as three Thais lost in the first round of the qualifying for the $US170,000 Pattaya Women's Open at the Dusit Resort Hotel in Pattaya, Thailand yesterday.
Thailand's Fed Cup team Napaporn Tongsalee was leading 4 - 2 in the first set but could not maintain her rhythm before losing to Russian teenager Alla Kudryatseva 6-7(3), 0-6. Montinee Tangphong suffered early exit when she was defeated by Aleksandra Wozniak of Canada in straight sets 6-7(5), 2-6 while 18-year-old Nudnida Luangnam went down to veteran Wynne Prakusya of Indonesia, Manila SEA Games champion, 4-6, 6-7(3).
Meanwhile, Thailand No. 1 Tamarine Tanasugarn, ranked 148, will play world No. 75
Maria Sanchez Lorenzo of Spain in the main draw first round. Suchanun Viratprasert, a wildcard entrant, meets world No. 59 Sybille Bammer of Austria........ More

Maria Sanchez Lorenzo of Spain in three set battle 6-3, 4-6, 2-6 at the Dusit Resort Hotel, Pattaya, Thailand earlier today.
The Thai 28-year-old put up a good show to win the first set 6-3 and took a lead 3 - 1 in the second set. Tammy wasted so many opportunities to take a lead 4 - 1 when she squandered three break points in the fifth game. The Spanish fought back and strated to hit well before prevailing the match in a greulling three-setter 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 lasting 132 minutes
. "I didn't play that bad and didn't feel any pressure compared to last year. I have to give credit to her for playing very well from the middle of the second set. I was leading 3 - 1 and should have gone up 4 - 1. But I made some mistakes which gave her the chance to come back. " said Tammy who will be competing next week WTA Bangalore in India....... More

in Bangladesh International Junior Championships 2006, a ITF Junior Group 3 at Ramna Tennis Complex in Dhaka, Bangladesh earlier today.
The Thai 15-year-old talented boy from
Rachaburi, ranked 370 in world junior, swept past Sang-Gyun Kim of Korea in straight sets 6-2, 6-3. Peerakit will play top seed Hsin Han Lee of Chinese Taipei in quarterfinals.

Tammy and Su-Wei who have reached the second round of Australian Open 2006, upset fourt-seed Israel's Shahar Peer and Nicole Pratt of Australia in straight sets 6-1, 6-1. The Thai - Taiwanese pair is scheduled to play against Australian Open champion and top seed Jie Zheng and Yan Zi of China in semifinals

Thailand No. 1 Paradorn Srichaphan has given Thailand a 1-0 lead in the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Asia/Oceania Zone Group I First Round
at Tashkent Tennis Center, Uzbekistan with a 6-3,6-4,6-3 victory over world No. 564 Farrukh Dustov earlier today.
" I'm satisfied with my performance, though I felt a little bit exhausted due to a stomach upset last night. " said Paradorn who will play the reverse single rubber against Uzbeki No. 1 Denis Istomin on Sunday.
