the Thai 16-year-old talented girl from Chiang-Rai
defeated Jenny Swift of Australia in straight sets 6-1, 6-1
in the singles first round. Varatchaya will take on fifth-seeded

Thailand's twin brothers Sanchai
Ratiwatana and Sonchat
Ratiwatana both pulled off a win in today's final
qualifying to complete the 32-player singles main draw of
the $US15,000 Future circuit 2 in Jiangmen, China earlier
today.
The Thai double specialists Sonchat knocked out Korea's top
seed Jae-Sung An in straight sets 6-0, 6-4 and will play Ti
Chen of Chinese Taitei in the main draw first round. Sanchai
enter the main draw with 6-4, 6-2 victory over fifth-seeded
Tai-Wei Liu of Chinese Taipei and will meet qualifier Yuri
Bezeruk of Australia in the first round.
In double, top seed Sonchat and Sanchai,
ranked 131 in the world, defeated Hong Kong pair 6-2, 6-4........

Udomchoke forced Argentine's fourth-seeded
David Nalbandian to work hard before losing 2-6, 2-6, 6-1,
7-6(4), 1-6 in 3 hours and 31 minutes men's singles first
round at Rod Laver Arena,
Melbourne Park Tennis Center in Melbourne, Australia earlier
today.
Ranked 117 places below world No. 4 Nalbandian, Danai didn't
serve well and couldn't find the rhythm, losing 2-6, 2-6 in
the first and second set. The Thai 24-year-old from Bangkok,
who has risen to a ranking of 121 and came through last week
as a qualifier, put up a valiant fight to win the third set
6-1. Danai who made a debut appearance at Melbourne Park,
built up his confidence back and rallied from a mini-break
down at 2 - 4 in the tie-break to claim the fouth set with
tie-break 7 points to 4. Trailing 0 -3, the Thai appeared
to run out of gas, calling the trainer to see his back before
losing 1 - 6 in the decisive set.

Tanasugarn crashed out of the Australian Open
2006, losing 6-7(5), 2-6 to American teenager Jamea Jackson
in women's singles first round at Melbourne
Park Tennis Center in Melbourne, Australia earlier today.
Ranked 128th in the world, the Thai 28-year-old who reached
her career-best of 19 in May 2002, wasted her chance to finish
the first set when she was leading 5 - 3. Jackson came back
strong, rallied from a break down at 3 - 5 to level at 5 -
5 and claimed the first set with tie-break 7 points to 5.
Trailing the first set 6 - 7, Tammy could not find back her
rhythm of playing, losing the second set 2 - 6.
In men's single first round, Asian singles
No. 1 Paradorn
Srichaphan of Thailand squandered two match points
in the third set before losing to seed No. 21 Nicolas Kiefer
of Germany in 3 hours and 50 minutes five greulling sets 7-6(5),
6-4, 6-7(5), 1-6, 2-6.

Ratiwatana both progressed into the men's singles
second round of the $US15,000 Future circuit 2 in Jiangmen,
China earlier today.
The Thai double specialists Sonchat, ranked 1166th in the
world, upset fifth-seeded Ti Chen of Chinese Taitei 6-4, 6-1
and will meet lucky loser Tai-Wei Liu of Chinese Taipei in
the second round. Sanchai also joined his twin brother into
the second round with 6-4, 6-0 victory over qualifier Yuri
Bezeruk of Australia. Sanchai will take on top seed

Tanasugarn and Su-Wei Hsieh of Chinese Taipei
stormed into the double second round, defeating pair of Marta
Domachowska of Poland and Italy's Roberta Vinci in straight
set 7-5, 6-0 in the Australian Open 2006 at Melbourne
Park Tennis Center in Melbourne, Australia earlier today.
Wildcard entrant Tanasugarn and Hsieh rallied from a break
down at 2 - 4 to win the first set 7 - 5. Once they won the
first set, the Thai-Taiwanese pair pushed their level up to
overpower their opponents 6-0 in the second set in one hour
and 10 minutes first round match.

into the men's singles quarterfinals of the $US15,000 Future
circuit 2 in Jiangmen, China earlier today.
The Thai 23-year-old, ranked 1166th in the world in singles,
defeated lucky loser Tai-Wei Liu of Chinese Taipei in straight
sets 6-1, 6-1. The Thai sets up quarterfinal clash against
top seed Amir
Hadad of Israel who recorded 6-3, 6-4 victory over
Sanchai Ratiwatana , Sonchat's twin brothers,
in another second round.
In doubles, twin brothers Sonchat and Sanchai
reached the semifinals with a 6-2, 6-1 win over India's pair

Udomchoke secured a berth in the main
draw of Australian Open after
their final qualifying round victory at
Melbourne Park Tennis Center in Melbourne, Australia earlier
today.
Seeded No. 11 in the qualifying draw, the Thai 28-year-old
Tamarine who is out of the top
100 for the first time in 10 years, eased past
Taiwanese teenager Su Wei Hsieh in straight sets 6-1, 6-2.
Tammy showed great impressive form, keeping her errors to
a minimum, with 18 compared to Su Wei's 36 and won seven of
the 12 break points she held. Ranked 128th in the world Tammy
who extend her 37th Grand Slam main draw appearance streak
since 1997 Australian
Open, will play Jamea Jackson of USA in the first round of
the Open.

The Thai 24-year-old Danai
Udomchoke who never reached the 128-player main
draw of Australian Open before, fought back from one
set down to defeat Dominik Meffert of
Germany in three set battle 5-7, 7-6(5), 3-0. The Thai
secured a berth in the main draw of Australian
Open for the first time in his professional career
after Meffert retired from the match due to cramps when Danai
was leading 3 - 0 in the decisive set. But The Thai faces
an extremely tough opponent David Nalbandian of Argentina,
