Tanasugarn/Hsieh bow out of Australian Open

Thailand's Tamarine Tanasugarn and Su-Wei Hsieh of Chinese Taipei bowed out of the Australian Open 2006, losing 6-7(3), 2-6 to ninth-seeded Shinobu Asagoe of Japan and Slovakia's Katarina Srebotnik in women's double second round at Melbourne Park Tennis Center in Melbourne, Australia earlier today.
Wildcard entrant Tanasugarn and Hsieh went down 6-7(3) in the first set after they wasted an opportunity to hold their service at 5-4. Asagoe-Srebotnik broke the Thai-Taiwanese pair twice to win the second set 6-2 lasting 78 minutes.

Fourth-seeded Numneung Koedkietpong of Thailand crashed out of the girl's singles semifinals, losing to top seeded Yi Yang of Hong Kong in the
Hong Kong Junior Tennis Tournament, a ITF Junior Group 5 at Hong Kong Sports Institue earlier today.
On Friday, the Thai 14-year-old Numneung, ranked 1180th in world junior, was down 1 -5 in the first set before play was suspended due to heavy rain. When play resumed today, Numneung went down 2-6, 7-5 to top seeded Yi Yang of Hong Kong in girl's singles semifinals........ More

Unseed Penporn Chantawannop of Thailand advanced to the qualifying second round of the $US10,000 ITF women's tennis tournament at the DLTA Complex tennis stadium
on Saturday.
The Thai 16-year-old Penporn defeated Subi Sundaram of USA in straight sets 7-6(4), 6-2. Other Thai girl Varanya Vijuksanaboon did not join Penporn's success, losing in three set battle 7-5, 4-6, 0-6 to Vandana Murali of India in the qualifying first round........ More

Thailand's16-year-old Penporn Chantawannop pulled off a win in yesterday's final qualifying to complete the 32-player singles main draw of the $US10,000 ITF women's tennis tournament at the DLTA Complex tennis stadium
on Sunday.
Unseed Penporn defeated Vandana Murali of India who beat Varanya Vijuksanaboon in the first round, in three set battle 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 in the final qualifying round.
The $US10,000 ITF women's tennis event will kick-off at the DLTA Complex tennis stadium
on Monday. Rushmi Chakravarthi of India is a top seed and Thailand's teenager Nudnida Luangnam is seeded fourth in the 32-player singles main draw......... More

It was not a good day for Thai Junior Tennis as Thailand's top Junior Varatchaya Wongteanchai made an early first round exit in Australian Open Junior Grand Slam, losing in a hard-fought three set battle 6-3, 6-7(4), 4-6 to ninth-seeded Bibiane Schoofs of the Netherlands at Melbourne Park, Melbourne, Australia earlier today.
The Thai 16-year-old talented girl from Chiang-rai, ranked No. 78 in world junior, squandered her opportunities when she was serving for the match at 6-3, 6-5. Varatchaya who made a debut appearance at Melbourne Park, was leading 4-1 but Schoofs (ranked 18 in the world) dominated her game to win the decisive set 6-4......... More

Thailand's double specialists Sanchai Ratiwatana advanced to the men's singles qualifying second round, defeating sixth-seeded Jeroen Masson of Belgium 3-6, 7-6(2), 0-0 (Retired) in the $US100,000 Challenger 42 in Andrexieux, France on Saturday.
The Thai 23-year-old, ranked 1166th in the world in singles, moved into the second round when Masson retired early in the final set due to a left knee injury. of the Neway International Junior Tennis Championships, a ITF Junior Group 3 at Zafar Iman Tennis Complex in Rajshahi, Bangladesh earlier today.
The Thai 14-year-old Noppawan, a Chiangmai native, defeated Jessy Rompies of Indonesia in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 and will play second round against third-seeded Jung-Yoon Shin of Korea. Three other Thai girls who lost in the first round are Satjaporn, Parichart and Prariyawat.
