bowed out of the Australian Open 2006, losing 6-7(3), 2-6
to ninth-seeded Shinobu Asagoe of Japan and Slovakia's Katarina
Srebotnik in women's double second round at Melbourne
Park Tennis Center in Melbourne, Australia earlier today.
Wildcard entrant Tanasugarn and Hsieh went down 6-7(3) in
the first set after they wasted an opportunity to hold their
service at 5-4. Asagoe-Srebotnik broke the Thai-Taiwanese
pair twice to win the second set 6-2 lasting 78 minutes.

of the $US10,000 ITF women's tennis tournament at the DLTA
Complex tennis stadium on
Sunday.
Unseed Penporn defeated Vandana Murali of India who beat Varanya
Vijuksanaboon in the first round, in three set
battle 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 in the final qualifying round.
The $US10,000 ITF women's tennis event will kick-off at the
DLTA Complex tennis stadium on
Monday.
Rushmi Chakravarthi of India is a top seed and Thailand's
teenager Nudnida Luangnam is seeded fourth in the 32-player

Thailand's top Junior Varatchaya
Wongteanchai made an early first round exit in
Australian Open Junior Grand Slam, losing in a hard-fought
three set battle 6-3, 6-7(4), 4-6 to ninth-seeded Bibiane
Schoofs of the Netherlands at Melbourne Park, Melbourne, Australia
earlier today.
The Thai 16-year-old talented girl from Chiang-rai, ranked
No. 78 in world junior, squandered her opportunities when
she was serving for the match at 6-3, 6-5. Varatchaya who
made a debut appearance at Melbourne Park, was leading 4-1
but Schoofs (ranked 18 in the world) dominated her game to

wildcard Parija Maloo of India in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 in

The Thai 18-year-old who is seeded third in the 32-player
main draw, sets up quarterfinal clash against Czarina-Mae

second round, defeating sixth-seeded Jeroen Masson of Belgium

in Andrexieux, France on Saturday.
The Thai 23-year-old, ranked 1166th in the world in singles,
moved into the second round when Masson retired early in the
final set due to a left knee injury.
