Second seed Tamarine Tanasugarn (WTA-74) of Thailand scored a straight-sets 6-4, 6-4 victory over China's Yan-Ze Xie and advanced to the second round of the $US50,000 Shanghai challenger in China earlier today.
It was a sweet revenge for Tammy as she had lost to Xie in the first round in their only previous meeting in 2006 Guangzhou challenger. The Thai 29-year-old, a finalist in WTA Bangkok last month, play second round against qualifier Lei Huang of China who recorded a 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 win over compatriot and wildcard entrant Chun-Mei Ji ......... | Noppawan, Peerakiat advance in Asian Closed Junior |

Thailand's top ranked junior Noppawan Lertcheewakarn (ITF-59) and Peerakiat Siriluethaiwattana (ITF-103) stormed into the third round after the competitions on day 3 were finished in the 2006 Asia/Oceania Closed U18 Tennis Championships at Rama Gardens Hotel Tennis Courts, Bangkok, Thailand earlier today.
Noppawan, 14-year-old talented girl from Chiangmai, easily saw off Sweta Solanki of India in straight sets 6-2, 6-3 while No. 14 seed Varatchaya Wongteanchai(ITF-100), semifinalist of last week G2, downed India's Shivika Burman 6-1, 6-2. Unfortunate six other Thai girls did not move past the second round. They were Sophia Mulsap, Ratchaya Chaichanachaicharn, Satjaporn Mahajaroenkul, Khunpak Issara, Natchanok Saenyaukhot and Parichart Charoensukployphol.
In the boy's side, eighth-seeded Peerakiat Siriluethaiwattana (ITF-103) reached the third round with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Sam Gould of New Zealand........ More

Eighth-seeded Peerakiat Siriluethaiwattana (ITF-103) and No. 14 seed Varatchaya Wongteanchai(ITF-100) were the only two Thais hope who advanced to the quarter-finals after the third round matches were finished on day 4 in the 2006 Asia/Oceania Closed U18 Tennis Championships at Rama Gardens Hotel Tennis Courts, Bangkok, Thailand earlier today.
Peerakiat, 17-year-old talented boy from Kampaengpetch, played a solid game as he outplayed Korean No. 12 seed Hyun-Soo Lim in straight sets 6-2, 6-0. He will next challenge the top seed and last week G2 champion Greg Jones of Australia for a spot to the semi-finals.
In the girl's side, Thailand's teenager Varatchaya, No. 14 seed, pulled off an upset after she knocked out third-seeded Dilyara Saidkhodjaeva of Uzbekistan. The Uzbek girl was forced to retire from the match due to a headache when she was down 5-7, 1-4. Fifth-seeded Danai Udomchoke (ATP-98) of Thailand sailed into the men's singles quarterfinals when he fought back from 3-5 down in the first set before defeating Nathan Healay of Australia 7-5, 6-2 in the $US100,000 Samsung Securities Cup Challenger Tennis at Olympic Tennis Courts in Seoul, Korea earlier today.
The Thai 25-year-old who reached his career-best at 95 in May 2006, will take on top seed Hyung-Taik Lee of Korea, for a place to the semi-finals........ More

Second seed Tamarine Tanasugarn (WTA-74) of Thailand progressed to the women's singles quarter-finals after a comfortable second round victory over wildcard entrant Chun-Mei Ji of China in the $US50,000 Shanghai challenger in China earlier today.
The Thai 29-year-old, won the first set 6-2 and had an easiler path to the quarter-finals when her Chinese rival was forced to retire due to leg injury after she was trailing 0-1 in the second set. Tammy sets up the quarterfinal clash with Russian Alla Kudryavtseva, a 6-3, 6-3 winner over qualifier Yi-Fang Xu of China. Fifth-seeded Danai Udomchoke (ATP-98) of Thailand crashed out of the $US100,000 Samsung Securities Cup Challenger Tennis after falling to top seed Hyung-Taik Lee of Korea in straight sets 7-6(0), 7-5 in the men's singles quarter-finals at Olympic Tennis Courts in Seoul, Korea earlier today.
The two players had met six times on the Challengers and Futures pro-circuit since 1999, with the Korean native winning five times, while Danai won only one time in 2001 Yokohama, Japan..
" It was a good match. Lee and me played well today. I should have won the second set as I was leading 2-0 and 5-3. But Lee played well on the important points. " said Danai who lost to Lee for the second time this year with the first loss came at 2006 Busan Challenger in the final......... More

Thailand No. 1 and second seed Tamarine Tanasugarn (WTA-74) registered her third straight victory over Akgul Amanmuradova of Uzbekistan with a straight sets 6-3, 6-3 in the final, to claim the ITF circuit singles title at $US50,000 Shanghai challenger in Shanghai, China earlier today.
It was Tammy's tenth career ITF circuit singles title since 1993, and the second on China soil following her first win at $US50,000 Shenzhen in 2005.
" The weather was getting cold and I called the trainer for warming my muscle at the beginning of the second set. Amanmuradova played well and serve well and have a variety of shots, she made me run a lot with her drop shots. I'm happy to pulled off a win today.
