Paradorn crashes out of Thailand Open

Thailand No. 1 Paradorn Srichaphan's of making it to the final in the hometown was dashed as he was eliminated from the semi-finals of the $US550,000 Thailand Open at Impact Arena Muang Thong Thani, Prathum Thani, Thailand on Saturday.
The Thai 27-year-old, who reached semifinalist in 2004 and 2005, went down 6-3, 6-2 to top seed Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia in only 77 minutes semifinals clash. Ivan Ljubicic plays the final against third seed James Blake of USA who defeated Marat Safin of Russia in three set battle 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(3).
" Ljubicic served well and did not give me any chance. He deserved to win. I'm disappointed and sorry for the fans" said Paradorn who will leave for ATP Japan Open which will strat next week....... More

Blake claims Thailand Open title

World No. 9 and third seed James Blake of USA won the Thailand Open title, defeating top seed Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia in straight sets 6-3, 6-1 in only 58 minutes final clash of the $US550,000 Thailand Open 2006, at Impact Arena Muangthong Thani, Prathum Thani, Thailand earlier today.
Blake, who was playing in Bangkok for the first time, made his first victory over the Croat in five career meetings. The American was particularly impressive, converting five of six break points(83%), compared to Ljubicic's 50% ( 1/2 ).
In doubles, the Israeli pair of Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram lifted up the trophy with a 6-2, 2-6, (10-4) win over Murray's brothers pair of Andy Murray and Jamie Murray of Great Brithan........

Thailand's 29-year-old
Tamarine Tanasugarn (WTA-102) breezed into the second round after defeating local favorite Agkul Amanmuradova of Uzbekistan in straight sets 6-4, 7-5 at the $US145,000 Tashkent Open in Tashkent, Uzbekistan earlier today.
The Thai is 1-0 head-to-head record against the 22-year-old Uzbek girl, with victory coming at the first round of Hyderabad in 2005.
Tammy will take on former world number 16 Iroda Tulyaganova of Uzbekistan(WTA-221) who upset fifth-seeded Anastasiya Yakimova of Belarus, for a spot to the quarter-finals ......... More

Danai moves on in Japan Open

Thailand's number two Danai Udomchoke (ATP-108) advanced to the second round with a 7-6(3) 6-3 victory over qualifier Marin Cilic of Croatia at the Ariake Colosseum in the $US690,000 AIG Japan Open in Tokyo, Japan earlier today.
The Thai 25-year-old will have a tough second round against No. 14th seed Benjamin Baker of Germany. Thailand No. 1 Paradorn Srichaphan (ATP-40), a semifinalist in Bangkok last weekend, enjoyed the first round bye and will play Japan's wildcard entry Takao Suzuki in the second round........... More.

crashed out of the $US145,000 Tashkent Open with a second round defeat to local wildcard Iroda Tulyaganova of Uzbekistan in Tashkent, Uzbekistan earlier today.
Tammy, ranked 102nd in the world, was defeated by 2002 Asian Games gold medalist Iroda Tulyaganova of Uzbekistan(WTA-221) in straight sets 6-4, 6-1 in the second round......... More

Thailand top ranked players Paradorn Srichaphan (ATP-40) and Danai Udomchoke (ATP-108) bowed out from the second round of the $US690,000 AIG Japan Open Tennis Championship at the Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo, Japan earlier today.
Two Thais did not survive the second round. Eighth-seeded Paradorn Srichaphan, who reached Masters Series Indian Wells 2006, was knocked out by wildcard entry Takao Suzuki of Japan in three set battle 7-6(4), 6-7(5), 6-4 while Danai Udomchoke went down 6-2, 6-1 to No. 14th seed Benjamin Baker of Germany........... $US800,000 if.... Stockholm Open in Stockholm, Sweden on Monday.

Tammy upsets Castano at PTT Bangkok Open

Wildcard entrant Tamarine Tanasugarn (WTA-97) of Thailand won her first round match in WTA tournament at home in three years with a 6-0, 7-6(5) victory over tenth-seeded Catalina Castano of Colombia in a rain-interrupted play at Rama Gardens Hotel Tennis Court, Bangkok, Thailand on Tuesday.
The Thai 29-year-old easily won the first set 6-0 and was serving for the match at 6-5. But the Colombian fought back by breaking the Thai to take the contest into the tie-break. Tammy was leading 3-1 in tie-break before rain suspended play for three hours. When play resumed, the Thai took the second set 7-6(5), claiming the tie-break seven points to five.....with her first match point.
" I think she (Castano) got a slow start in the first set. She started playing better and served well in the second. I was serving for the match at 6-5 but she played
quite good in that game. At 5-5 in the tie-breaker, I had a match point with my good serve. " said Tammy who also defeated the Colombian at Wimbledon first round this year.
Tammy will next play second round against Jamea Jackson of USA who scored a 6-2, 6-3 win over Melinda Czink of Hungary.

Suchanun Viratprasert did not join Tammy's success, squandered a 4-2 lead in the first set before losing 6-4, 6-0 to Poland's Marta Domachowska ........ More

Thailand's young boys made a winning start in their Junior competition Grade A after the first round matches were finished on two in the Osaka Mayor's Cup-World Super Junior Tennis Championships, a ITF Junior Grade A, at Utsubo Tennis Centre in Osaka, Japan on Tuesday.
Unseeded Peerakit Siributwong (ITF-183) stunned seventh-seeded Yong-Kyu Lim (ITF-100) of Korea in three set 6-3, 0-6, 6-3 while sixteenth-seeded Peerakiat Siriluethaiwattana (ITF143) needed an extra effort to defeat qualifier Hiromasa Oku of Japan in three set battle 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. Another unseed from Thailand, Kittipong Wachiramanowong (ITF-433) reached the second round with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Japan's qualifier Yugo Inoue. Unfortunate, Khunpol Issara (ITF-317) could not get past the first round, losing to second seed Hsin-Han Lee of Korea in straight set 6-4, 6-4.

Second seed and world single number 107th Danai Udomchoke of Thailand had a easy first round victory with a 6-3, 6-2 win over a lucky loser Michael Yani of USA in the $US75,000 Swanston Challenger at Sutter Lawn Tennis Club in Sacramento, CA, USA on Tuesday.
The Thai 25-year-old sets up second round clash against 27-year-old Jeff Morrison of USA who recorded a 4-6, 6-4 7-5 victory over Nick Lindahl of Australia in the another first round.

Thailand rising star Weerapat Doakmaiklee (ATP-966) pulled off the upset on day two of the $US15,000 Nigeria Futures (F5) pro-circuit after he knocked out
fifth-seeded Boy Westerhof of the Netherlands in the first round on Tuesday.
The Thai 18-year-old who made his semi-finals debut in the ITF Futures pro-circuit in Bangkok in June this year, eliminated
fifth-seeded Boy Westerhof (ATP-663) of the Netherlands in straight sets 6-4, 6-2, to sets up the second round clash with compatriot Kirati Siributwong (ATP-1090), a 7-6(8), 6-1 win over Candy Idoko of Nigeria.
In the $US25,000 women's single challenger circuit at the same venue, Thailand's teenager and fifth-seeded Montinee Tangphong (WTA-325) will play South Africa Surina De Beer in the first round.

Thailand's sixteenth-seeded Peerakiat Siriluethaiwattana (ITF143) was the only Thai hope in the Junior Grade A competition after fellow Peerakit and Kittipong crashed out from the second round of the Osaka Mayor's Cup-World Super Junior Tennis Championships, a ITF Junior Grade A, at Utsubo Tennis Centre in Osaka, Japan on Wednesday.
17-year-old Peerakiat Siriluethaiwattana (ITF143) reached the third round with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Yuki Matsuo of Japan. The Thai will have a tough third round clash against world junior No. 23 and third-seeded Sho Aida of Japan for a place to the quarter-finals.
The other two Thai boys, who failed to make the third round, were Peerakit Siributwong
(ITF-183) and Kittipong Wachiramanowong (ITF-433).
Peerakit went down to
Luka Somen of Croatia in straight sets 7-6(5), 6-4 while Kittipong was eliminated by the twelfth-seeded Harri Heliovaara of Finland in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.

Second seed Danai Udomchoke (ATP-107) of Thailand continued his fine run after defeating Jeff Morrison of USA, to advance to the quarterfinals of the $US75,000 Swanston Challenger at Sutter Lawn Tennis Club in Sacramento, CA, USA on Wednesday.
Danai and
Morrison are 1 - 2 in their head to head meetings with the American winning the latest in the qualifying first round of the US Open 2006. It was a sweet revenge for the Thai who had an easiler path into the quarterfinals with a 6-2, 6-2 win over the American ranked 164th in the world.
The Thai 25-year-old, who reached his career-best of 95 in May 2006, will next play Rajeev Ram of USA for a spot to the semi-finals.........More
