| Kirati stuns Korean fourth seed in Indonesia F1 |

Three Thai men advaned into the men's singles second round after their victories over foreign rivals in the US$10,000 Bakrie Men's Future F1 at the Karebosi Tennis Stadium in Makassar, Indonesia.
Kirati Siributwong, 20-year-old world No.1072 from Ratchaburi, upset Korean fourth-seeded Cheong-Eui Kim(ATP-730) 6-3, 6-4, to set up the second clash with China's Wan Gao(ATP-1133), a 5-7, 6-1, 7-5 winner over Indonesian qualifier Bonit Wiryawan(ATP-1333). Two other successful Thais yesterday were Weerapat Doakmaiklee(ATP-924) and qualifier Peerakit Siributwong(ATP-1382). Weerapat ousted Japan's Tsubasa Morizane(ATP-1512) 6-3, 6-3 and will meet Aussie third-seeded Sadik Kadir(ATP-634), for a place to the quarter-finals. | Luksika upsets British fourth seed in Cologne Junior 14U |

Thailand 14-year-old Luksika Kumkhum, the lone Thai hope in the tournament, continued her fine run as she upset British fourth-seeded Jessica Ren 6-2, 6-4, to progress to the fourth round of the RheinEnergie Tennis Cup , an ITF Junior Under-14 Grade 2, in Cologne, Germany on Wednesday.
Fresh from winning a single trophy in France last weekend, the Thai prodigy from Chantaburi who keep her winning streak going to 8-0, will next play Emi Mutaguchi of Japan for a place to the quarter-finals. Luksika is 3-0 head-to-head records against theJapanese with the victories coming at World Junior Tennis Competition in India in April this year and again in the semis of Junior 14U in France last week.
Two other Thais did not join Luksika's success. Napatsakorn Sankaew, 13-year-old from Patumthani, did not survive the second round, losing to No.15 seed Julia Kimmelmann of Germany 6-3, 6-1 while Warit Sornbotnark went down 6-4, 6-2 to Ismail Lahlou of Morocco in the boy's singles second round ......... | Tammy crashes out of Acura Classic |

Tamarine Tanasugarn's challenge in the Acura Classic women's singles ended on Wednesday with a 6-1, 6-3 defeat at the hands of Russian top seed Maria Sharapova in the second round of the US$1,340,000 Acura Classic in San Diego USA on Wednesday.
After one hour and 11 minutes of play, the Russian 20-year-old world No.2, served nine aces and won four of the 6 break points she held, whereas Tamarine had six break points in hand but could not quite convert her chances.
In doubles competitions, the pair of Tamarine and Colombia's Catalina Castano reached the second round with a 6-4, 1-6, (10-7) win over Greece's Eleni Daniilidou and Germany's Jasmin Woehr. They will play sixth-seeded pair of Argentine Gisela Dulko and Russian Maria Kirilenko, for a spot to the quarter-finals........... More

Thailand 20-year-old Kirati Siributwong booked his place into the quarter-finals when he defeated China's Wan Gao(ATP-1133) in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 in the second round of the US$10,000 Bakrie Men's Future F1 at the Karebosi Tennis Stadium in Makassar, Indonesia earlier today.
Kirati, world No. 1070 from Ratchaburi, who did not move past beyond the second round after playing ten tournaments this season, will next play Korean qualifier Seung-Hoon Kim(ATP-1512) who recorded a 6-4, 6-0 win over Indonesian sixth-seeded Elbert Sie(ATP-751).
Unfortunate, two other Thais did not join Kirati's success. The first-time team of Tamarine Tanasugarn and Catalina Castano of Colombia knocked out sixth-seeded pair of Argentine Gisela Dulko and Russian Maria Kirilenko in a match tie-break 6-4, 4-6, 11-9, to advance to the quarter-finals of the US$1,340,000 Acura Classic in San Diego USA on Thursday.
Tamarine and Castano rallied from a 1-4 down before winning the first set 6-4. Then they fought back from a 1-5 deficit in a match tie-break to win the match 6-4, 4-6, 11-9 lasting one hour and 39 minutes. Next up, the Thai-Colombia duo will take on top seeds Zimbabwe's Cara Black and Liezel Huber of South Africa, for a place to the semi-finals........... More

Teen prodigy Luksika Kumkhum of Thailand pulled off two wins in yesterday's girl's singles competitions by upsetting Croatian ninth-seeded and Slovenian second seed respectively, to reach her second straight final in the RheinEnergie Tennis Cup , an ITF Junior Under-14 Grade 2, in Cologne, Germany on Friday.
The 14-year-old Luksika, one of the rising stars of Thai tennis, eliminated ninth-seeded Katja Milas of Croatia 3-6, 7-5, 6-2 in the quarter-finals then rallied back from a set down to upset second seed Nastja Kolar of Slovenia 1-6, 7-5, 6-3 to make her second straight finals in two weeks.
Fresh from winning a single title in France last weekend, the Chantaburi native, who keep her winning streak going to 11-0, sets up the final showdown with top seed Silvia Niric of Croatia, a 6-3, 6-3 winner over Indonesia's Grace Sari Ysidora. The girl's singles final will start on KTHC center court at 12:45 on Saturday(4th).

Fourteen-year-old Luksika Kumkhum's eleven-match winning streak came to an ended with a 5-7, 6-2, 6-0 defeat at the hand of top seed Silvia Niric of Croatia in the girl's singles final of the RheinEnergie Tennis Cup , an ITF Junior Under-14 Grade 2, in Cologne, Germany earlier today.
World junior No.1092(ITF-18U) from Chantaburi, Luksika ended her four-week Europe tour with two trophies, claiming a single title in Rueil-Malmaison Junior 14U in France last week and lift a singles runners up trophy in Cologne Junior 14U in Germany earlier today.
Travelling Coach, Pracharapol Khamsaman, reports from Cologne:
" It's great experience for our juniors (Luksika Kumkhum, Napatsakorn Sankaew and Warit Sornbutnark) to complete in the Tennis Europe Tour for 14U in four weeks. Especially Luksika, she won a single title in France last weekend. She played a lot of tennis in four weeks here. And she lost in the final today because she was still exhausted from yesterday matches."
Next up for the Thai girls will be World Junior Tennis Competition Finals which will held in Prostejov, Czech Republic on 6-11 August . The Thai team have qualified for the World Group Finals by winning a title in the World Junior (Under 14) Competition Asia/Oceania qualifying Zone in India in April.

Thailand No.1 Tamarine Tanasugarn(WTA-76) progressed into the second round of the US$600,00 LA Open, defeating No.11 seed Tatiana Golovin of France in Los Angeles USA on Monday.
Tamarine needed just only 57 minutes before her opponent world No.19 from France, Tatiana Golovin, retired with a right hamstring strain at 5-7 down in the first set. Thailand 20-year-old Weerapat Doakmaiklee, the lone Thai hope in the 32-player main draw, cruised into the second round as he upset Japanese second seed Tetsuya Chaen(ATP-486) in the first round of the US$10,000 Indonesia Men's Future circuit 2 at the Mugas Tennis Stadium in Semarang, Indonesia earlier today.
The Chonburi native world No924, will next play second round against the winner between Korean qualifiers Hyun-Joon Kim and Il-Hae Kim.

| The Universiade get underway in Nonthaburi |

The 24th Universiade tennis competitions get underway today at The LTAT National Tennis Center in Nonthaburi province, Thailand. For the first year, the LTAT is hosting the official university students from a total of more than 50 countries participating in tennis games.
Organisers of the Universiade have yesterday announced the main singles draw for the tournament that gets underway on Thursday (9th). The top two seeds for the men's draw are Thai favorite world No.104th Danai Udomchoke and world No.270 Pavel Snobel of Czech Republic, while Yung-Chan Chan, currently world No.65 and world No.198 Chin-Wei Chan of Chinese Taipei are the top two seeds in the women's draw.
In doubles competitions, Thai tennis fans will also have the chance to watch twin brothers Sonchat and Sanchai Ratiwatana in doubles action. The Thai duo who broke into top-100 after reaching two straight ATP semi-finals in Newport and Los Angeles, is No.1 seeds in the doubles draw. Sonchat also teamed with Napaporn Tongsalee to play mixed doubles.

Thailand Davis Cup team Weerapat Doakmaiklee booked his place into the semi-finals as he moved past Japanese eight-seeded Hiroki Kondo(ATP-744) in the quarter-finals of the US$10,000 Indonesia Men's Future circuit 2 at the Mugas Tennis Stadium in Semarang, Indonesia earlier today.
Following his solid win against Japanese second seed Tetsuya Chaen(ATP-486) in the first round, the Thai 20-year-old continued his fine run to defeat eighth-seeded Hiroki Kondo(ATP-744) of Japan in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 in the quarter-finals.
" I was happy with my game and felt good with the way I played today. I hit a lot of good passing shots. I was a bit lucky because my opponent (Kondo) made many unforced errors. " said Weerapat who made his second-career semifinal on the men's pro circuit. Weerapat Doakmaiklee is one step away from winning his first men's pro circuit title after he prevailed over his rival in the semi-final of the US$10,000 Indonesia Men's Future circuit 2 at the Mugas Tennis Stadium in Semarang, Indonesia earlier today.
The Thai 20-year-old world No.924 defeated Korean qualifier Huai-En Chang(ATP-1512) in straight sets 6-1, 6-3, to set up the final showdown with third-seeded Oh-Hee Kwon(ATP-630) of Korea in tomorrow final.
" I beat second seed and eighth seed in the first round and quarter-finals. I am happy with my game and now I'm in the final. I don't know how to express my feeling. " said Weerapat who made his first-career final on the men's pro circuit.
" It will be good if I can win the title on Mother's Day (12th August). I will try my best to win the title for my mom. But it's not easy because my opponent(Kwon) is good player. Thailand's Suchanun Viratprasert pulled off the upset on day five of the 24th Universiade after she shocked world No.274 and tenth-seeded Zuzana Kucova of Slovakia in the women's singles fourth round at The LTAT National Tennis Center in Nonthaburi province, Thailand earlier today.
After two hours and 40 minutes of play, the Thai 24-year-old world No.396 upset Slovakia's tenth-seeded Zuzana Kucova in three gruelling sets 6-2, 5-7, 6-3. Suchanun, who reached her career-best at 172nd in August 2004, will battle for the bronze medal against Indonesia's ninth-seeded Sandy Gumulya(WTA-269), a surprising winner over world No.67 and top seed Yung-Jan Chan of Chinese Taipei.
Nudnida Luangnam(WTA-309), the other Thai hope in the women's draw, did not survive the fourth round, losing to world No.199 and second seed Chin-Wei Chan of Chinese Taipei in straight sets 7-5, 7-6(2).
In the men's competitions, Thai ace and top seed Danai Udomchoke needed just 39 minutes to defeat No.14 seeds Prima Simpatiaji of Indonesia 6-0, 6-1. Top seed Danai Udomchoke of Thailand assured hisself of a bronze after defeating seventh-seeded Hyun-Woo Nam of Korea in the men's singles quarter-finals of the 24th Universiade at The LTAT National Tennis Center in Nonthaburi province, Thailand earlier today.
The Thai 26-year-old world No.106 was on fire, dropping only 3 games to defeat the Korean world No.460 in straight sets 6-0, 6-3 in a contest that spanned 58 minutes.
" My opponent (Nam) was not in his game in the first set. I have to work hard in the second because he hit heavy top spin and played better than the first set. Today my serves helped me a lot and I played good on the important points. " said Danai who will take on third-seeded Ti Chen of Chinese Taipei in the last fours.
" It's not easy playing Chen even I beat him 3 times in previous meetings. He hit the balls flat and we are playing similar style. I will try my best tomorrow. " added the Thai top seed after the match.
Top seed Sonchat and Sanchai Ratiwatana stormed into the doubles final after winning the semifinal match against Indonesia's eighth-seeded Prima Simpatiaji and Sunu Wahyu Trijati 6-0, 6-3. Thailand's twin brothers Sonchat and Sanchai Ratiwatana secured their first Universiade tennis gold medal for Thailand after defeating second seed Russian pair of Pavel Chekhov and Alexander Krasnorutskiy 7-6(3), 6-2 in the men's doubles final of the 24th Universiade tennis competitions at the LTAT National Tennis Center in Nonthaburi province, Thailand earlier today.
" We would like to thank our family for always supporting us. We also thank to the tennis fans in the stadium as well as those at homes for cheering us. The gold medal mean a lot for us. We want to give this wonderful present to my mom on her birthday (21 August) and also give our successful to all Thai people. " said Sanchai who won the bronze with his brother in Universiade 2003 in South Korea.
" Our doubles game is improving and we try to break into world top-20 in order to gain a place into the Olympic Games in Beijing next year. " added elder brother Sonchat who broke into top-100 after reaching two straight ATP semi-finals in Newport and Los Angeles.
In men's singles competition, top seed Danai Udomchoke (ATP-106) moved past third-seeded Ti Chen of Chinese Taipei in straight sets 6-2, 6-4, to progress to the men's singles final.
After one hour and 12 minutes of play, Danai was strong in his 6-2, 6-4 win over the Taiwanese world No.312. The Thai 26-year-old, who is studying laws in Bangkok University, was particularly impressive, keeping his errors to a minimum, with 17 compared to Chen's 28. The Thai hit 13 winners and won three of the 5 break points(60%) he held, whereas Chen had 13 winners and didn't have any break point.
" I started well with a service break in the first game of both sets. It helped me a lot. For tomorrow's final against the South Korean guy, I can't say that I will win the match. Because anything can happen in tennis. I never play him before but I knew that he is consistent player and hit the balls hard. I will try my best. " said Danai who will play the final against world No.400 and fourth-seeded Jae-Sung An of Korea, a 6-3, 6-4 winner over France's Antoine Brezac Charles in the other semi-finals.............. More
