Undoubtedly the most exciting match of the day was the semifinal round singles encounter between fourth-seeded Varatchaya Wongteanchai and top seed Nudnida Luangnam. It was very tightly contested with the results not decided till the final set tie-breaker with the Chiangrai 18-year-old won 7-5, 5-7, 7-6(11-9) after three hours and 37 minutes of play. Varatchaya, world No.795th, started the match in fine form and had two match points at 7-5 and 5-2 lead, before her senior experienced opponent Nudnida saving two match points to force a decider. " It was really tough match. I played well from the beginning and I had two match points when I was serving at 5-2 in the second set. But I could not serve it out. All credit to my opponent who fought back really well to force a decider. It's always a good feeling especially when the match was so tight and you won the match like this. I will try my best again tomorrow. " said the 18-year-old Varatchaya who sets up the title clash with 16-year-old third-seeded Noppawan Lertcheewakarn(WTA-588) who recorded a 6-0, 6-2 win over sixth-seeded Kamonthip Saovana.
