Danai crashes out of Chennai Open

Thailand's tennis star Danai Udomchoke (ATP-104) failed to win his first match of the year when he was defeated by third-seeded Belgium's Xavier Malisse (ATP-37) in the $US400,000 Chennai Open 2007 in Chennai, India on Monday.
Danai, who won Doha Asian Games gold medal and finished at No. 104 in ATP rankings, went down 6-2, 6-2 to Malisse from Belgium.
Seventh-seeded Paradorn Srichaphan (ATP-53) will kick-off his campaign against qualifier Simone Bolelli of Italy at the SDAT Tennis Stadium today......... More

Thai ace Paradorn Srichaphan (ATP-53) sailed into the second round when he defeated qualifier Simone Bolelli of Italy in staright sets 7-6(5), 6-4 in the $US400,000 Chennai Open 2007 in Chennai, India on Tuesday.
The Thai 27-year-old, a 2003 former champion and three times runner-up (2002, 2004, 2005), will take on unseed Stefan Koubek (ATP-80) of Austria who recorded a 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory over Spaniard wildcard Bartolome Salva-Vidal, for a spot to the quarter-finals. Paradorn is 0 - 1 against Koubek in their career head to head meetings with the Austria winning in the 2004 Basel Switzerland first round 6-7(7), 6-4, 6-3......... More

Thailand's 14-year-old Nuttorn Tanchainant stormed into the boy's singles second round of the 2007 Optus 14s National Hardcourts, the 14 & Under Series Sponsored by Australian Open at Gosford Tennis Center in Gosford, Australia earlier today.
Wildcard entrant Nuttorn, a talented boy from Patumthani, is among several players who have earned direct entry courtesy of international wildcards into the 128-player main draw. The Thai defeated Alan Poric Mortdale from New South Wales of Australia in straight sets 6-0, 6-1 and will play another young boy from New South Wales Alex J. Thailand's top seed Sophia Mulsap (ITF-141) and eleventh-seeded Kittipong Wachiramanowong (ITF-258) progressed to the girl's and boy's singles third round after the competitions on day 3 were finished in the DLTA Junior Tennis Tournament, an ITF Junior Grade 2 at DLTA Complex Tennis Stadium in New Delhi, India earlier today.
Sophia, 16-year-old from Bangkok, defeated Kyra Shroff of India in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 and will play third round against Indian No. 15th seed Poojashree Venkatesh, for a place to the quarter-finals. No. 13rd seed Khunpak Issara (ITF-233) and eleventh-seeded Nicha Lertpitaksinchai (ITF-220) joined Sophia into the third round. 15-year-old Khunpak moved past Indian Sayali Bhilare in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 while 15-year-old Nicha rallied from a set down before defeating Indian Nova Patel 3-6, 6-2, 6-1.

Kittipong, 16-year-old from Song-khla, ousted home favorite and eighth-seeded Akash Gujrathi 6-1, 6-4. The Thai sets up quarter-finals clash with Indian fourth-seeded Vijayant Malik for a spot to the semi-finals.

Thailand's 16-year-old Kittipong Wachiramanowong (ITF-258) booked his place into the semi-finals after defeating Indian fourth-seeded Vijayant Malik in three sets 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 in the DLTA Junior Tennis Tournament, an ITF Junior Grade 2 at DLTA Complex Tennis Stadium in New Delhi, India earlier today.
Kittipong, who has been selected to join the Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand's rising stars programme since April 2006, will take on top seed Rifat Biktyakov of Uzbekistan for a spot to the final.
