| Noppawan - Pongsiri win SAT Tennis Championships titles |
BANGKOK Thailand, March 01, 2007
Fifteen-year-old Noppawan Lertcheewakarn and Pongsiri Niroj clinched the women's and men's singles titles of the Baht200,000 SAT Tennis Championships ( Circuit 2 ) at Ramkamhaeng University Tennis Courts in Bangkok earlier today.
Top seed Noppawan, ranked 684th in the world, won the title without dropping a set to her opponents. She beat compatriot Sasirin Borwornchokchai (WTA-822) in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 in the final.
In the men's side, third-seeded Pongsiri Niroj lifted up the trophy with a 7-6(2), 3-6, 6-2 victory over fourth-seeded Ekkarin Pisuth-Arnonth........... More

Third-seeded Kanyapat Narattana (ITF-339) and sixth-seeded Satjaporn Mahajaroenkul (ITF-407) downed their rivals earlier today, to reach the second round of the 35th Brunei ITF (Grade 4) Junior Circuit at Hassanal Bolkiah Sport Complex in Brunei.
Kanyapat, 14-year-old from Bangkok, scored a 6-2, 6-0 win over Germany's Maribelle Siegfried while 15-year-old, Satjaporn, defeated Pakistan's Natasha Afridi in straight sets 6-1, 6-1.
In the boy's side, fourth-seeded Sorapon Imprapai (ITF-565) beat qualifier Sameer Patwardhan of India 6-1, 6-2. The Thai 16-year-old next play Japan's Nao Mizouchi for a spot to the third round........... More

Second seed Noppawan Lertcheewakarn (ITF-57) scored a 6-4, 6-1 victory over qualifier Angelika Jogasuria of Indonesia, to progress to the second round of the Salon Pas International Juinor Championships, an ITF Junior Grade 2, at Kemayoran Tennis Center in Jakarta Indonesia earlier today.
Fifteen-year-old, Noppawan, who won the title last year, will take on India's Ashvarya Srivastava for a place to the quarter-finals.
Unfortunate two other Thai could not move past the first round. Eighth-seeded Nicha Lertpitaksinchai (ITF-187) was knocked out by wildcard entrant Karyn Emeralda of Indonesia in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 while fifth-seeded Sophia Mulsap (ITF-137) was forced to retire from the match after trailing 6-7(2), 2-5 against wildcard entrant Laili Rahmawati Ulfa of Indonesia ........... Top seed Pattrayu Chumpet (ITF-253) easily saw off India's Luv Sodha, 6-1, 6-1, to reach the third round of the 35th Brunei ITF (Grade 4) Junior Circuit at Hassanal Bolkiah Sport Complex in Brunei eralier today.
Pattrayu, 16-year-old from Nonthburi, sets up third round clash with No. 14th seed Takahiro Sato of Japan for a spot to the quarter-finals.
Three other Thai boys joined Pattrayu into the third round. Fourth-seeded Sorapon Imprapai (ITF-565) beat Japan's Nao Mizouchi 6-1, 6-1 while eighth-seeded Grittraboon Prahmanee (ITF-755) downed Korea's Tae-Goo Lee 6-4, 3-6, 6-1. Second seed Sonchat and Sanchai Ratiwatana, (world doubles ranked 112nd and 125th), rallied past Japan's pair of Takao Suzuki and Satoshi Iwabuchi in straight sets 6-4, 6-4, to reach the doubles quarter-finals of the $US25,000 Shimadzu All Japan Tennis Championships at Kyoto City Gymnasium in Japan earlier today.
Sonchat and Sanchai, the Doha Asian Games silver medalists, showed good teamwork to defeat the Japanese pair with a service break in both sets. It was a good preparations for the Thai Davis Cup team as Thailand has to visit Japan in their Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Group 1 second round in April 2007. The Thai duo, who beat the Japan Davis Cupper for the first time on Japan soil, will next play pair of Sweden's Michael Ryderstedt and Uzbekistan's Farrukh Dustov for a place to the semi-finals ......... | Nungnadda survives scare to enter R2 in Hamilton |

Thai second seed Nungnadda Wannasuk (WTA-584) was given a scare by Auckland 17-year-old, Kairangi Vano, before winning in a gruelling three setter 7-6(6), 6-7(4), 6-4 lasting two hours and 21 minute at the $US10,000 Hamilton leg of ASB Pro Circuit in Hamilton New Zealand earlier today.
The Thai 17-year-old took the first set tie-break 7-6(6). Vano, who reached the final in last week leg 1 at Wellington, fought back to level the match by capturing the second set tie-brak 7-6(4). The Thai recoverd from losing the second sets before prevailing 6-4 in the final set. Sixth-seeded Satjaporn Mahajaroenkul (ITF-407) scored a 6-1, 6-0 victory over India's Prerana Prathap, to progress to the quarter-finals of the 35th Brunei ITF (Grade 4) Junior Circuit at Hassanal Bolkiah Sport Complex in Brunei eralier today.
Satjaporn, 15-year-old from Samutsakorn, will next challenge with top seed Jawariah Noordin of Malaysia for a spot to the semi-finals. Third-seeded Kanyapat Narattana (ITF-339) joined Satjaporn into the quarter-finals with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Japan's Sari Yamamoto.
In the boy's side, top seed Pattrayu Chumpet (ITF-253) reached the quarter-finals after defeating Japan No. 14th seed Takahiro Sato 6-3, 7-6(2). The Thai 17-year-old, second seed in the tournament, will take on eighth-seeded Jared Easton of Australia for a place to the semi-finals. Fourth-seeded Kittipong Wachiramanowong(ITF-96) powered into the quarter-finals with a punishing 6-0, 6-0 win over Indonesia's Lenz Theodor.

Fourth-seeded Kittipong, 17-year-old talented boy from Songkha, rallied from a set down to beat Australia's sixth-seeded Mark Verryth 3-6, 7-5, 7-6(2). The Thai plays semi-finals against top seed John Patrick Smith of Australia for a place to the final. Thai star Tamarine Tanasugarn (WTA-74) made a winning start in Indian Wells, defeating Ukraine's Julia Vakulenko (WTA-72) in straight sets 7-5, 7-6(2) in a match lasting one hour and 53 minutes, to reach the second round of the $US2,100,000 Pacific Life Open on Thursday.
The Thai 29-year-old, who reached her career-best at No. 29 in May 2002, will take on No. 21st seed Samantha Stosur (WTA-29) of Australia.
