| Thailand finish 4th place in Junior Fed Cup |

Thailand finished the fourth place on the final day after losing 1-2 to host Italy in the third place play-off of their Junior Fed Cup Finals at the Circolo Tennis Reggio Emilia in Italy on Sunday.
Thailand lost the second single when 16-year-old Nicha Lertpitaksinchai, world junior No.221 went down 6-1, 6-3 to Italy No.3 player Nastassya Burnett(ITF-123). Host Italy came out strong with a 2-0 winning lead after Vivienne Vierin(ITF-115) defeated Thai No.1 Noppawan Lertcheewakarn(ITF-46) 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 in the first single.
" We played well and tried our best. All European players have more experience playing on clay than us. They have good defensive game and they also moving well on clay. " said Noppawan, who reached the second round of Junior French Open this year.
In the final, Australia, who lost to Thailand in Asia/Oceania qualifying Zone, defeated Poland 2-1 to claim the Junior Fed Cup title.

| Three 2007 Wimbledon Champions in PTT Bangkok Open |
The US$200,000 PTT Bangkok Open, which is part of the Sony Ericsson WTA professional women's tennis circuit, has added a 3rd 2007 Wimbledon champion to its line-up. Already confirmed for the tournament, are Venus Williams, the 2007 Wimbledon singles champion and World No3 Jelena Jankovic the mixed doubles champion, joining them is the junior World No1 and Wimbledon singles and doubles champion 16 year old Urszula Radwanska from Poland, who has been given a wild card entry by the tournament organizing committee.
The tournament which is being held at the Lawn Tennis Development Centre, Muangthongthani from 6 -14 October, will also feature a number of Thai junior players who have also been given wild card entries to the event. Thailand's Tamarine Tanasugarn and Aiko Nakamura of Japan progressed to doubles semi-finals, defeating pair of France's Camille Pin and Ma. Emilia Salerni of Argentina in straight sets 76(4), 6-1 in the quarter-finals of the US$175,000 AIG Japan Open Tennis Championships at Ariake Colosseum, Ariake Forest Tennis Park in Tokyo, Japan earlier today.
The Thai-Japanese combo, who reached the second round at French Open and Wimbledon this year, will next play top-seeded Taiwan's Chia-Jung Chuang and Vania King of USA, for a spot to the final............... More

| Three local Thais fail to make main draw |

Three local Thai hopes failed to make the qualifying final round as they did not get past their foreign rivals in the US$200,000 PTT Bangkok Open 2007 at the LTAT National Tennis Center in Nonthaburi on Sunday.
Nudnida Luangnam(WTA-325), 20-year-old from Sukhothai, squandered a 5-1 lead in the first set before losing to Romania's Anda Perianu(WTA-173) in straight sets 7-6(5), 6-2. Wildcard entrant Nicha Lertpitaksinchai, 16-year-old world junior No.221 went down to seventh-seeded Yuliana Fedak(WTA-127) 6-3, 6-3 while 17-year-old Nungnadda Wannasuk(WTA-535) did not get past big serving Akgul Amanmuradova(WTA-102) of Uzbekistan, losing 6-3, 7-5 in the qualifying second round.......... Thai ace Tamarine Tanasugarn(WTA-86) made a winning start after defeating Edina Gallovits of Romania in the first round of the US$200,000 PTT Bangkok Open 2007 at the LTAT National Tennis Center in Nonthaburi earlier today.
Last year's finalist needed one hour and 28 minutes before her opponent, world No. 79 Edina Gallovits, retired while trailing 5-7, 1-3 due to heat illness.
" I was lucky to win the match like this. The highly humid condition was tough for her. It was my first time playing her and it was tough playing my first match after changing from fast surface in Tokyo to a slow surface here." said Tamarine who will play the winner between second seed Venus Williams and Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark in the second round.
Thai rising star and wildcard entrant Noppawan Lertcheewakarn(ITF-47, WTA-576) did not get past Italian world No.49 and seventh-seeded Flavia Pennetta, losing 6-0, 6-2 in the first round clash.
Earlier yesterday, wildcard Thai duo Varatchaya Wongteanchai and Sophia Mulsap pulled off the biggest upset after they knocked out Spaniard third seeds Lourdes Dominguez and Arantxa Parra Santonja in straight sets 6-4, 7-6(5) in the doubles first round........... More

Thailand 17-year-old Peerakit Siributwong(ITF-129) stormed into the quarter-finals after defeating world No.157 Alex Sanders of Australia in three gruelling sets 6-7(3), 6-4, 7-6(7) in the boy's singles third round of the Osaka Mayor's Cup - World Super Junior Tennis Championship, an ITF Junior Grade A, at Utsubo Tennis Center in Osaka, Japan earlier today. Peerakit rallied from a set down to defeat the Aussie 16-year-old from Gold Coast in a nerve-wracking contest that spanned three hours and a half.
" I was delighted with my victory today because it is my first time reaching quarterfinal in Group A. It also was a good feeling to win the match, especially when the match was so tight. All credit to my opponent(Sanders), He played really well today. He has very good forehand and he attacked well. Actually I did not play my best tennis today. I hope to do better tomorrow. " said the Thai 17-year-old from Rachaburi who sets up the quarterfinal clash with world No.74 and sixth-seeded Tsung-Hua Yang of Taiwan, a 6-3, 6-2 winner over Japan's Hiroki Moriya in the other third round match.........More

Varatchaya Wongteanchai and Sophia Mulsap(world doubles ranked 549th and 625th) became the first Thai doubles pair to make the semi-final of a WTA event when they defeat Columbia's Catalina Castano (WTA-93rd) and Romania's Edina Gallovits(WTA-202) 6-1 6-4 in the quarterfinals of the US$200,000 PTT Bangkok Open 2007 at the LTAT National Tennis Center in Nonthaburi on Friday.
The Thai wildcard paring of Varatchaya(18-year-old) and Sophia(17-year-old) upset Spaniard third seeds Lourdes Dominguez(WTA-65th) and Arantxa Parra Santonja(WTA-75th) in straight sets 6-4, 7-6(5) in the doubles first round.
" I am so excited to be here in the interview room. It's been a great week for us. I really was not expecting even to win a match. It's really an unexpected result. I think we both were playing well with a good teamwork and we did not feel any pressure. " said Sophia who won two ITF doubles titles (2007 ITF/Khonkaen 1-THA, 2007 ITF/Bangkok-THA ) with Varatchaya.
" I would like to thank to our sponsor PTT (Petroleum Authority of Thailand), and the LTAT (Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand) and especially Mr. Geoffrey Rowe from Pentangle Promotions Co., Ltd, who gave us a wildcard. Seventh-seeded Flavia Pennetta of Italy won PTT Bangkok Open Title after defeating unseeded Yung-Jan Chan of Chinese Taipei in the final of the $US200,000 PTT Bangkok Open 2007 at the LTAT National Tennis Center in Nonthaburi earlier today.
Pennetta, world ranked No. 49th overcame the Taiwanese world No.97 Yung-Jan Chan in straight sets 6-1, 6-3 lasting nearly four hours rain-delayed final contest.
In double, the doubles final was not played as unseeded Japanese pair Ayumi Morita and Junri Namigata had to give a walk-over to top seed Australian Open and Wimbledon doubles champion Zi Yan(WTA-14) and Olympics doubles gold medallist Sun Tian-tian(WTA-18) of China. | Asian Hopman Cup shifts to Bangkok |

Organisers, International Sports Management Co Ltd. (ISM), of the US$70,000 Asian Hopman Cup have announced the Nations partcipating for the tournament at the Rama Gardens Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand earlier today.
Top male & female players from six Asian countries have been invited to participate in the Asian Hopman Cup – China, Chinese Taipei, Japan, Korea, Thailand and Uzbekistan, which will held at the LTAT National Tennis Development Centre, Muang Thong Thani, Nonthaburi. The teams will consist of 1 man and 1 woman squad and the event will be run as per round robin format in two groups consisting of men's singles, women's singles and mixed doubles. The winner of each group will contest for the top position.
The Asian event will carry prize money of US$ 70,000. In addition to the prize money the winning team will automatically qualify for the Hopman Cup in Perth, Australia and will be granted a minimum bonus of US$ 70000 for their participation in the Hopman Cup XX in 2008. ............. More

Thailand 18-year-old Nungnadda Wannasuk(WTA-529) progressed into the women's singles second round after defeating Japan's Erika Sema(WTA-362) in straight sets 6-2, 6-3 in the first round of the US$25,000 Cooloola Women's International at Reg English Tennis Complex in Gympie, Australia earlier today.
The Nakorn Ratchasima teenager, who came from the qualifying tournament, sets up second round clash with compatriot world No.403 Montinee Tangphong, who recorded a 6-3, 6-2 victory over lucky loser Courtney Vernon of USA. The American Courtney Vernon replaced Briton top seed Anne Keothavong(WTA-121), who withdrew from the tournament due to a fourth rib injury.
Earlier yesterday, Nudnida Luangnam(WTA-326) did not get past the first round when she was defeated by Germany's Laura Haberkorn(WTA-512) in straight sets 7-6(3), 6-0.
