| Peerakiat advances, Noppawan out of US Open Junior |

Thailand top ranked junior Peerakiat Siriluethaiwattana(ITF-60) stormed into the second round after defeating the American world No.28 Johnny Hamui in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 in the boy's singles first round of the US Open Junior Tennis Championships at the Flushing Meadows National Tennis Center in New York, USA on Sunday.
The Thai 18-year-old, who lost in the first round at all three grand slams this year, will take on wildcard entrant Jeff Dadamo(ITF-164) of USA, who recorded a 6-1, 6-2 upset win over No.13 seeds Australia's Stephen Donald.
" I was happy with the way I played today even I made a fews mistakes especially when I had a short ball at the middle of the court. I played more aggressive in the second set. It was my first US Open Junior and I'm delighted to pull through to the second round. " said the left-handed Peerakiat after the match.
" Next up is Jeff Dadamo from USA. I'm taking one match at a time and looking forward for the next match. I will try my best and I would like to thank to all Thai people who cheering me. " added the teenager from Kampaengpetch who reached his junior career-best at No.42 in January 2007.
In the girl's side, Thailand rising stars Noppawan Lertcheewakarn, world junior No.49, did not survived the first round, losing 6-2, 1-6, 7-6(5) to the American world No.35 Mallory Cecil. The Chiangmai-based 15-year-old squandered a 5-3 lead in the final set and again wasted her chances when she was leading 5-3 in the tie-break before losing the match to the American........... More

Peerakiat Siriluethaiwattana(ITF-60) kept Thai flag flying at the Flushing Meadows when he became the only Thai player to survive into the boy's singles third round of the US Open Junior Tennis Championships at the Flushing Meadows National Tennis Center in New York, USA on Tuesday.
Peerakiat, world No.60 from Kampaengpetch, fought back from a set down to overcome wildcard entrant Jeff Dadamo(ITF-164) of USA in three greulling sets 5-7, 7-5, 7-6(6). The left-handed Thai, who is working with a well-known coach Tarik Benhabiles ( www.renaissancetennis.com ) since June 2007, will next challenge world junior No.1 and 2007 Roland Garros Junior champion Uladzimir Ignatik of Belarus for a place to the quarter-finals.
Thai junior No.1 Kittipong Wachiramanowong did not get past the first round on Monday. The Thai 17-year-old world No.51, missed out on a chance to reach the second round for his first US Open, forced to retire with the score at 7-5, 5-7, 3-4 against No.12 seeds John-Patrick Smith of Australia. Kittipong was one game away from winning the match. He won the first set 7-5 but squandered a 5-3 lead in the second set before a knee injury cost his movement and eventually lost the match to the Aussie............ More

Two Thai girls advanced to the girl's singles quarter-finals after their victories over foreign rivals in the 36th Brunei Junior Circuit, an ITF Junior Grade 4 at Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Brunei earlier today.
Top seeds Satjaporn Mahajaroenkul(ITF-284) reached the last eight with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Yi-Bei Jang(ITF-903) of Chinese Taipei. The Thai 16-year-old from Samutsakorn will take on Indonesia's Jogasuria Angelika(ITF-743) for a spot to the semifinals. Unseeded Prang Pantusart(ITF-805) joined Satjaporn into the quarterfinal, defeating Vietnam's Lam Anh Tran in straight sets 6-2, 6-1.
In the boy's side, sixth-seeded Sorapon Imprapai(ITF-419) had no difficulty in moving to the quarter-finals with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over a lucky loser Christian Oliver Lee of Malaysia. Sixth-seeded Sorapon Imprapai(ITF-419) upset third-seeded David Agung Susanto(ITF-305) of Indonesia in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. The Thai 16-year-old next play seventh-seeded Singapore Wee Min for a place to the final.
In the girl's side, unseeded Prang Pantusart(ITF-805) continued her winning run, scoring a 6-2, 6-2 upset win over third-seeded Yui-Lynn Miao of Chinese Taipei. | Illness forces Peerakiat to retire from US Open Junior |

Peerakiat Siriluethaiwattana's dream of making it to the quarterfinal of a Grand Slam was dashed as he was eliminated from the third round of the US Open Junior Tennis Championships at the Flushing Meadows National Tennis Center in New York, USA on Thursday.
Ranked No.60th in the world, Peerakiat, who made his third round debut in Grand Slam tennis tournament, was suffering from a fever and could not perform as expected. He was forced to retire with the score at 3-6, 0-3 against world junior No.1 and 2007 Roland Garros Junior champion Uladzimir Ignatik of Belarus.
" Last night I didn't sleep well. And today I got a fever. I didn't have energy to hit the balls. But I think I can play him. The outcome would have been better if I wasn't sick. I felt sorry to the Thai tennis fans but I've already try my best. " said the Kampaengpetch-born Peerakiat who have had a cold since last week. Next up for Peerakiat will play his last junior tournament in Bangkok G2 in October............ More

Thailand's 15-year-old Prang Pantusart is one step away from winning her first ITF junior title after she knocked out compatriot and top seeds Satjaporn Mahajaroenkul(ITF-284) in straight sets 6-4, 6-1 in the semi-final of the 36th Brunei Junior Circuit, an ITF Junior Grade 4 at Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Brunei on Saturday.
The Chiangmai-born world No.805th, sets up the final showdown with Indonesian world No.481 and fourth-seeded Angelina Jogasuria, a winner over countrygirl and seventh-seeded Chyntia Melita(ITF-591).

Thailand's unseeded Prang Pantusart failed to capture her first ITF junior title after losing the final match to world No.481 and fourth-seeded Angelina Jogasuria of Indonesia in straight sets 7-5, 6-2 in the 36th Brunei Junior Circuit, an ITF Junior Grade 4 at Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Brunei earlier today.
In all her winning way, the Chiangmai teenager had eliminated three seeded players along the way, Indonesian sixth-seeded Bella Destriana(ITF-566) in the first round; third-seeded Taiwanese Yui-Lynn Miao(ITF-350) in the quarterinal; Thai top seed Satjaporn Mahajaroenkul(ITF-284) in the semifinal.
The Thai 15-year-old, who played oversea tournament for the first time, awarded 30 ranking points. She will jump 250 spots from a ranking of 805 to next week's career-best No.517, breaking into the ITF Junior Tour Singles Top-600 for the first time. ........... More

The on-going battle between World No 9 Venus Williams and World No 3 Jelena Jankovic has created a lot of interest amongst Thai tennis fans, resulting in a spurt in ticket sales as the 2 players are seeded to meet in the final of the US$200,000 PTT Bangkok Open, which will be staged at the LTAT National Tennis Development Centre, Muangthongthani from 6 -14 October 2007.
The score currently stands at 2 – 1 this year in favour of Jankovic, whose closely fought 3-set wins, came on clay at Charleston and at the French Open. Williams gained a measure of revenge last week when she upset Jankovic again in 3 tight sets on the hard courts at the US Open............. More |

Kittipong, world junior No.51, moved past qualifier Jake Eames of Australia in straight sets 6-2, 6-1, to set up the quarterfinal clash with fifth-seeded Chen Wu of China, a winner over Nguyen David of USA. Fifth-seeded Peerakit Siributwong(ITF-132) did not join Kittipong's success, losing the second round match to wildcard entrant Ze Zhang of China 6-3, 6-4.

Thailand's Tamarine Tanasugarn has suffered an early first round exit from the US$225,000 Commonwealth Bank Tennis Classic when she was defeated by seventh-seeded Aiko Nakamura of Japan in three gruelling sets 6-1, 6-7(5), 7-5 at Grand Hyatt Bali Hotel Tennis Courts in Indonesia earlier today.
Tamarine, currently world No.78th, had her chance when she was serving for the match at 5-4 in the final set but the Thai 30-year-old could not capitalise it. The Japanese 23-year-old from Osaka broke back before clinching the match lasting two hours and 54 minutes.
In doubles, the first-time pair of Tamarine and Australia's Casey Dellacqua reached the quarter-finals with a 7-5, 2-6, 12-10 win over Slovakia's Jarmila Gajdosova and Edina Gallovits of Romania............ More

| European tennis stars aim high at PTT Bangkok Open |
The US$200,000 PTT Bangkok Open, which is being staged at the LTAT National Tennis Development Centre in Muangthongthani from 6 – 14 October 2007, has attracted entries from a trio of European stars who have the capability of upsetting the big guns at the PTT Bangkok Open.
Heading the list is Italian Flavia Pennetta, who in 2006 held down WTA top 20 rankings in both singles and doubles. Pennetta, who holds 5 WTA titles had a poor start to the season, but recovered her form on the South America swing, reaching the semi-final in Bogota and final in Acapulco. Thailand's sixth-seeded Kanyapat Narattana sustained her good work to get past Japan's Shiho Otake in straight sets 6-2, 6-4 in the quarter-finals of the China Junior Open, an ITF Junior Grade 2, at Beijing Tennis Sports Center in China earlier today.
Kanyapat kept the Thai hopes alive after Kittipong went out from the boy's singles quarter-final. The Bangkok teenager, who made her semifinal debut on Junior Grade 2, will have a tough semifinal against Chinese world junior No.31 and top seed Yi Miao Zhou, a winner over Vanda Lukacs of Hungary in the other quarter-finals.

The US$200,000 PTT Bangkok Open which is being held at the LTAT National Tennis Development Centre in Muangthongthani from 6 – 14 October will play host to many of the leading Asian women tennis stars.
There are currently eight Asian stars ranked in the WTA top 100 and five of them will be competing in the PTT Bangkok Open next month. The players who have entered are Aiko Nakamura of Japan ranked 51, Akiko Morigami of Japan ranked 52 and Double Grand Slam winners Yan Zi ranked 14 and Zheng Jie ranked 15 will be re-united in Bangkok, whilst Chinese doubles specialist Sun Tian Tian currently ranked 19 will also be competing.............. Thailand No.2 Nudnida Luangnam progressed into the women's singles second round after defeating New Zealand's qualifier Ellen Barry(WTA-398) in three sets battle 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 in the first round of the US$25,000 Sekisho ITF Woemn's Open in Tsukuba, Japan earlier today.
